The Challenge

Worcestershire Acute Hospital NHS Trust needed to replace an aged, out of support Microsoft Unified Access Gateway (UAG) system to enable medical staff to complete critical activities, including updating patient records, without having to be at the hospital. The Trust needed a robust remote solution that worked in real-time, and strengthened security.

The Solution

altSRD recommended Awingu Remote Desktop as a cost-effective and feature rich solution. Awingu provided The Trust with everything they need to achieve secure remote access and mobility, together with significant cost savings. Following a successful proof-of-concept, The Trust could scale up the Solution for wider adoption to other departments, including coding teams, pathology, radiology, nurses and general admin staff.

The Outcome

The surrounding NHS community in Worcestershire can access the most up-to-date information at the point of care, and clinical staff can respond to faster to critical requests. Travel back to the hospital was also reduced, as records can be updated in real-time. With a team of over 12 visiting midwives, it is estimated the Trust has saved over £20,000 in travel expenses per year in this department alone.
